About Dr. Paglini

Since 1996, Dr. Paglini has specialized in forensic psychology, which includes criminal, family, and civil psychology.

For 34 years, Dr. Paglini has been in private practice and has conducted forensic psychological assessments for 29.

 

    1. FORENSICS:
      1. Civil Psychology:
        • Civil Psychological Evaluations for Plaintiff and Defense. Includes standard of care/trauma/emotional impact of incident.
      2. Adult Criminal:
        • Death Penalty Mitigation Evaluations.
        • Child Abuse/Neglect Risk Assessments.
        • Criminal Responsibility Evaluations.
        • Certified Pre-Trial Competency Evaluator for Specialty Courts.
        • Psychological Evaluations.
        • Consult with legal teams on Capital cases with cross-examination and sentencing regarding mental health professionals.

      3. Civil Commitments:
        • Dr. Paglini is part of one of three teams that evaluate individuals on legal holds to determine if criteria is met for civil commitment. January 2018 to current.
      4. National Security Psychological Association:
        • Dr. Paglini is contracted as a consultant for the National Security Psychological Association (NSPS). National Security Psychological Services conducts evaluations on employees for the United States Department of Energy with top-secret clearance.

      6. Miscellaneous Psychological Services:
        • Provided critical incident debriefing for Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, 2006 to 2015. Auxiliary Psychologist to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Provided psychological services to police officers pertaining to officer involved shootings, as well as trauma.

        • Evaluations for United States Post Office regarding threat assessment, January 1997-2002.
      7. Expert witness testimony:
        • Hired by both Defense and Prosecution. Expert testimony in State Criminal Courts, Federal Courts, Juvenile Courts, Family Courts and State Civil Courts.
      8. Family Courts:
        • 25 years working with the Family Courts regarding child custody cases and Family Court evaluations.
        • Not currently conducting child custody evaluations.

 

    1. NEVADA BOARD OF PSYCHOLOGICAL EXAMINERSDr. Paglini was appointed by Governor Brian Sandoval to serve a four-year term for the State of Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners, effective July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2018. The State of Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners protects consumers of psychological services by regulating the practice of Psychology. The Board is empowered to establish licensing requirements, to set standards of professional behavior, and to review the professional conduct of licensed psychologists to promote competent practice and public welfare.

 

    1. PRIVATE PRACTICE:In the last thirty-two years, I have worked in private practice on an inpatient basis (until 1998) and outpatient basis extensively. Populations include adults, adolescents and children (therapy and psychological testing). Issues include depression, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, substance abuse and marital/family issues. Additionally, I have conducted therapy pertaining to difficult legal cases for criminal and family attorneys for the courts. Forensic sub-specialty has been highlighted above.

 

    1. USAF MILITARY HISTORY:
      • August 1989 – August 1991, 554th Medical Group, Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas, NV. Duty Title: Clinical Psychologist/Captain, U.S. Air Force. Performed Psychological Testing and Psychotherapy. Consultant to medical and legal staff. Provided expert testimony on gambling cases. Conducted Psychological and Alcohol Assessments. Nellis Air Force Base Anti-Smoking Project Officer. Implemented and reviewed quality assurance policy. Began first-ever Gambling Recovery Program at Nellis Air Force Base.
      • Deployed to Operation Desert Storm from January 18, 1991 – April 7, 1991. Provided psychological service to 37th Tactical Unit (stealth fighters). Performed crisis intervention, educated wing on combat stress and preventive measures, and provided on-going consultation of stress management. Major duties included Crisis Evaluation and treatment of military personnel for continued military duty. Evaluated and treated military personnel for top-secret positions.
      • Honorable discharge (Captain).
      • August 1988 to August 1989, Andrews Air Force Base – Clinical Internship.

      • Exam Commissioner for the Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners. Job duty: To evaluate potential licensees for competency to practice in the State of Nevada, 2001- 2009.

      • Committee for Family Courts regarding establishing a protocol for forensic providers, 2009 to 2010.
